The 2024 choir annual concert will take place at Rhayader Leisure Centre; North Street Rhayader LD6 5BU. It will be on Sunday 23rd June 2024 and will begin at 5pm.
2024 will be an exceptional year because not only do we have two local talented artistes; we have a world renowned clarinetist; Professor Linda Merrick CBE, Principal of the Royal Northern College of Music and an internationally-renowned clarinet soloist, recording artist and pedagogue.
Linda Merrick CBE

Her catalogue of over 40 solo recordings features new concertos she has commissioned by British composers, including Martin Ellerby, John McLeod, and Stephen McNeff for labels such as Naxos, Chandos and NMC. She has also released premiere recordings of clarinet quintets with the Navarra and Kreutzer Quartets by the composers Simon Bainbridge, Nigel Clarke and Robert Crawford. Recordings of new clarinet quintets by Gary Carpenter, David Horn and Paul Pellay are due to be released in 2024. In addition, Linda has commissioned and recorded released two CDs featuring works with clarinet and harpsicord by Robert Keeley.
Linda has performed as a concerto soloist across America, Asia, Australia, Europe, South America, the UAE and the UK, and broadcast for BBC Radio 3, Radio France, DRS1 Switzerland, CKWR Canada and Arte TV South Korea.
In addition to her position as Principal of the Royal Northern College of Music, Linda is Chair of Conservatoires UK and the UK Representative for Howarth of London Clarinets. She was awarded a CBE for Services to Music Education in the King’s New year’s Honours list 2023.
